Originating from the 13th century Latin word succurrere (“to run and help”), “succour” means to give help, relief, or assistance to someone in difficulty or distress, and is pronounced the same as “sucker.” Although we do enjoy a fun play on words, we are serious about providing compassionate adult care to the people of New York Dutchess County.
